Legends Estates ‘Reserve’ Chardonnay 2013
VQA Niagara Peninsula $18.95 12.5% alcohol
This is a gorgeous, opulent, barrel-fermented Chardonnay that punches well above its price—it flirts with 5 stars, pick up a case. Baking spice, incense and ripe apple aromas provide entry to a generously textured, medium-full bodied, beautifully balanced flow of ripe, juicy pear, white nectarine with a delightful streak of lemon and grapefruit tang. The finish lingers and the price-quality balance tips well in your favour. (Vic Harradine)
• The following wine might seem strange to be classified a white wine. However, Pinot Gris is a mutation of Pinot Noir and can ripen from green-ish to almost purple hence the variation in colour from one to another. Give this a try.
Legends Estates ‘Reserve’ Pinot Gris 2015
VQA Lincoln Lakeshore $14.95 12.5% alcohol
The copper-coloured wine in the clear glass bottle will certainly catch your eye. Honey-soaked aromas of peach and pear introduce a tapestry of flavour—excellent tang and white nectarine interweave with exotic spice and orange creamsicle. This is mid weight and fully textured with good balance and a clean, crisp finish and aftertaste. Pour on its own or with lighter-styled appetizers. (Vic Harradine)
