Founded in 2015, Hounds of Erie Winery is Canada's first virtual winery/cidery. They use the facilities of Blueberry Hill Estates Winery in the emerging Norfolk County wine region specializing in small-batch, premium, hand-crafted wines and hard ciders. Owner, cider-maker and winemaker, Mat Vaughan, is an accomplished limited-production, medal-winning, cider-maker, winemaker and a Wine Judge of Canada.
Best in Show is the winery's first estate-blend release showcasing a blend of 21 different types of French, English and American hard cider apples. It’s also gluten free. Each year the blend will evolve as the orchard matures and expands. One of the unique attributes of Hounds of Erie's hard ciders is all have minimal ingredients. Besides trace amounts of sulphites and a preservative, the only ingredient is apples. There’s no sugar, water, acid, flavor or anything else added—just pure, crushed apples. All fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks and spends the least amount of time on lees as possible retaining the fresh apple flavours their customers love.
