Norman Hardie ‘County’ Pinot Noir ‘Unfiltered’ 2011
VQA Prince Edward County $35.00 (125310) 12.1% alcohol
‘A classic County profile’ is how Norman Hardie describes this refined, medium-bodied wine. A clear ruby, the nose offers complex aromas—red cherry, wild strawberry, earth, mineral and a touch of spice. Dry, silky in texture, it’s nervy and racy, the bright red berry fruit mingling with earthy notes, mineral and hints of dried herbs. A great wine to pair with duck and cherry sauce. Rosehall Run ‘Cuvée County’ Chardonnay 2010
VQA Prince Edward County $21.95 (132928) 13.5% alcohol
This was barrel fermented then aged in French oak 14 months with 1/3 new barrels. Perfumed aromas of toasty oak, nutty notes and ripe apple abound. It’s racy, tangy and brimming with key lime, white peach and pear interwoven with lemongrass and wisps of oak. Mid weight and nicely textured, the aftertaste brims with a crisp, refreshing line of acidity, oaky notes and minerality. Good now, better 2014 – 2016. (Vic Harradine)
