Vintages Release: Winter 2013
Kacaba ‘Wismer Vineyard’ Pinot Noir 2008
VQA Niagara Escarpment $22.95 12.2% alcohol
Savory herbs, toasty oak and spice-laden, heady notes of dark field berry dominate the nose. It’s racy and tangy on the palate with a focused stream of red currant, sour cherry and beetroot interwoven with blueberry and red plum. Mid weight with balance and good sense of purpose, flavours replay on the lip-smacking aftertaste. Pour with grilled, cedar-planked salmon. (Vic Harradine)
Cattail Creek ‘Reserve’ Cabernet Merlot 2007
VQA Four Mile Creek $24.95 (271825) 12.5% alcohol
From an outstanding red wine vintage, this blend—50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc—delivers rich, complex aromas of cherry, menthol and toasty notes. It’s mid weight with a smooth, silky good mouth feel and is chockfull of tangy, racy, red cherry and red currant interwoven with cassis and oodles of spice. The aftertaste is dry with good structure, balance and complexity; what’s not to like? (Vic Harradine)
