Lifted alluring aromas of tarry notes and wood smoke mingle with dark juicy plum on the nose. A medium-plus bodied surge of spice-laden ambrosia blankets the palate carried on a creamy-smooth bed of flavour with dark cherry and black currant framed by lip-smacking tang and acidity, and decorated by dark bittersweet chocolate and cassis. Absolutely delicious now, this will be enhanced over the short and medium term by a bit more time in bottle. There’s soft ripe tannin showing on the lingering, luscious and balanced finish; aerate/decant for a couple of hours. (Vic Harradine)
