Winemaker, Álvaro van Zeller, trained at a premium Port house, Quinta do Noval, and it's reflected here in the wine quality and Port grape varieties—Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Jaen. Piquant spice-infused aromas of cherry and cinnamon set the table for a feast of flavour with black plum, tart cherry and dried berry fruit. It’s medium-bodied with good texture, well balanced and fruit forward. There’s good acidity on the tangy, lip-smacking, lingering finish and very good structure throughout. It punches well above the price and pours well with all manner of meat you pull from your grill. Pick up a few of these. (Vic Harradine)
