June 18, 2018 Newsletter
July 1 weekend is certainly a time to wave the flag. This is not in the nature of many Canadians, but perhaps should be. For anyone who travels to other countries, watches the news or reads a newspaper, it becomes obvious, in spite of shortcomings, that Canada rates near the top of places to live… not perfect, but on balance, much better than the vast majority.
And now to wine—it’s time to give our collective heads a shake. Canada makes world-class wines, mediocre wines and some that make you wonder how on earth they came to market—that places us right on par with all other wine-making countries including France, Italy, Australia, USA et al. Why not give wines from Canada a chance this Canada Day weekend? There are over thirty Canadian wines and one sparkling, hard apple cider to choose from in this newsletter, all marked with our flag. If you’re matching with food, most reviews have suggestions. If you’re unsure, or have any questions about any aspect of wine, send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. • The following 2014 Senorio de Barahonda ‘Campo Arriba’ Monastrell/Syrah/Tintorera 2014 is both delicious and an interesting blend.
