Redstone hits a homerun with its first single-vineyard, vintage-dated sparkling wine. It’s great value and made of 80% pinot noir and 20% chardonnay crafted in the traditional method and left on its lees for 18 months. Pale lemon with blush hues, the fine-beaded bubbles wend their way to the top of the glass helping to release aromas of ripe pear, peach, rhubarb jam, a wisp of ginger and lemon blossom. A mouth-filling mousse of delicious fresh and crisp flavours—Bosc pear, pink grapefruit and freshly cut apple charms the palate along with breadcrumbs, chalky minerality and a repeat of ginger note in the tasty finish. This fresh and lively blend of 44% pinot gris, 31% pinot noir and 25% chardonnay was produced in the traditional method, is vintage dated and spent 18 month on its lees. Nuanced aromas of green apple, lemon zest, acacia flower and brioche emerge gently from the glass. Dry, medium-light bodied, a delicate mousse transports flavours of pear, Granny Smith apple, tart citrus and a mineral note over the palate before finishing medium length with an enduring lemon-lime aftertaste. This certified organic and biodynamic pale-yellow beauty was aged 16 months in French oak barrels and is lovely on the nose—pear, green apple, pineapple, white flower and mineral aromas with just a hint of oak contact. It flows over the palate with elegance and flavours of ripe orchard fruit and Meyer lemon until buttery toast, vanilla and roasted almond skin notes show up on the mid-palate and persist on the delicious dry and harmonious finish. It’s oaky and smoky on the nose before revealing aromas of peach, cooked apple, dry apricot and vanilla. A crisp and tangy wash of peach, red apple and citrus peel flavours mingle with smoke and lactic notes, slowly turning to a warm and mild, buttery, dry finish. Juicy and tangy on the palate, it shows red cherry purity of fruit from first sip to finish with a note of laurel wrapping the finish and aftertaste. This organic and biodynamic, medium-full bodied deep-ruby hued cabernet was matured 18 months in oak barrels, 40% new. A combination of intense green bell pepper and black peppercorn aromas great the nose followed by ripe black fruit, violet and cedar. A juicy wash of ripe blackberry, dark cherry and cassis flavours framed in firm, ripe tannin leads the way on the palate until charred savoury herb and a mild menthol note complete the profile. This well-crafted fully textured red can be enjoyed now or left to further evolve over the next ten years.
