Viñedos Marchigüe ‘Happy Dogs – Limited Edition – Red Blend’ 2018
DO Colchagua Valley, Chile $8.95 (640060) 12.5% alcohol
This is a 70% cabernet sauvignon/30% carménère red blend. Aromas of charred toast, tar and über-ripe black plum leap from the glass. A rich, ripe stream of ripe dark cherry/berry fruit washes over the palate with good balance and enough tang on the finish to make you go back for another sip. Monochromatic, but given the cost, it’s an exceptional value. Pour with whatever you pull off your Weber or Egg—sausages, burgers, steak, or ribs with spicy barbeques sauce. (Vic Harradine)

A nicely textured and beautifully flavoured river of red and black fruit adorned with sweet vanilla and notions of dark bittersweet chocolate envelop the palate persisting through the lengthy finish and aftertaste.
