On June 12, 2014, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Tuscan winery Ornellaia, one of the world’s most prestigious wine producers, will release its new vintage and flagship wine of the estate, Ornellaia 2011, at an annual gala dinner and charity auction. 

The annual vintage release is celebrated through the ORNELLAIA Vendemmia d’Artista project, a marriage between the world of art and wine. Each year an internationally recognized artist is commissioned to create a work of art that captures the essence of Ornellaia. This year, Canadian artist Rodney Graham has been selected to represent the theme of Infinity (L’Infinito), recognizing the unique characteristics of Ornellaia 2011. An essential part of the project includes the creation of an exclusive label by the artist which will adorn a limited number of large format bottles of the vintage, each numbered and signed by the artist. 

The Art Gallery of Ontariois honoured to be selected as this year’s host venue and recipient of the charity auction proceeds. One of Canada’s most distinguished museums, the AGO will join an exclusive list of venerated art institutions worldwide that have received donations of more than one million euros ($1.5 million Canadian) from this project to date. 

The ORNELLAIA Vendemmia d’Artista project aims to recapture the tradition and value of artistic patronage in a modern-day key, linking it to the birthplace of Ornellaia and the specific character of the individual harvest.
