Mitolo ‘The Nessus’ Shiraz 2013
McLaren Vale, Australia $16.95 (457291) 14.5% alcohol
Cedar, wet stone and exotic spice roll easily from this medium-full bodied, full-fruited, Aussie Shiraz. It coats the palate with a well-textured, nicely structured river of red and black cherry interwoven with espresso roast and sour cherry. It finishes with good tang and wisps of mocha and pours beautifully with grilled lamb chops. (Vic Harradine)

Mission Hill ‘Reserve’ Pinot Gris 2014
VQA Okanagan Valley $21.95 13.5% alcohol
Offering alluring floral aromas integrated with notes of melon and stone fruit, the slightly pink hue is evidence of extended skin contact during fermentation. Medium-bodied, the wine shows a round, creamy texture—a portion was aged in seasoned French barrels—that’s in fine counterpoint to the backbone of lively acidity. Flavours of stone fruit and melon replay with notes of pear and a dash of tangy spice shining through on the lengthy finish. Pour with prosciutto and melon. (Susan Desjardins)
