Damilano Barbera d’Asti 2015
DOCG Barbera d’Asti, Italy $21.75 14.5% alcohol 
Exotic incense, graphite and anise aromas on the nose, this unleashes a lively stream of red currant and passion fruit laced with lip-smacking tang steaking over the palate. It finishes fruit forward and mouth-watering good. It’s smashing good now paired with red pizza or pasta in tomato sauce. Still in its infancy, this will improve with a three-hour decant and even more with patience—pop corks 12 months from now. (Vic Harradine)   
   
  
Damilano ‘Marghe’ Nebbiolo 2104
DOC Langhe, Italy $24.75 14.0% alcohol 
This will cellar dweller will reward patience and two more years in bottle. It’s a light shade of red— close to dark pink. Aromas of charred toast and cedar introduce a stream of palate-bathing flavours with roasted savory herbs, tarry notes and black currant to the fore. This is medium weight with good fruit and balancing tang. There’s a bite on the finish from still-resolving tannin that’ll fade with age. (Vic Harradine)
