Happy Holidays

Hello, friends in wine, wineries, agents, subscribers,

Over the last several months I have had much time to reflect on my life and all the good things in it. High on the list is my involvement in the wine community in Ottawa. I have been given the great opportunity to taste and evaluate many of our fine Canadian wines, and share my opinions with winecurrent subscribers. I’m one lucky guy!

It has been 20 years since the start of winecurrent, with some 500 newsletters going out to all our subscribers. Wines, too numerous to count, many over several vintages, have been featured. While the focus has been on Ontario wines and wineries, international wines have also been included. I’ve been thrilled to share my travel experiences and winery tastings. Wineries around the world have opened their doors, and shared some of their great wines and stories with me. It has been a great privilege to have had these experiences and share with others.

After much deep reflection, I’ve made the difficult decision to retire from winecurrent and wind up the newsletter. Twenty years have gone by quickly and I’ve enjoyed all of it! The best part has been the quality wine people I’ve met and come to know during this time: winery owners, wine makers, viticulturists, agents and many more. The kindness and willingness of wineries to provide their wines for evaluation was greatly appreciated and it has been my great honour to assess your wines and share my opinions. Thank you! I will truly miss our interactions.

The team of winecurrent reviewers, Lisa, Louise and Dave, have been most generous in giving of their time and expertise in providing their learned opinions on many of the wines featured. This fine group of well-qualified wine tasters have stellar credentials and experiences. I’m sure you’ll see their continued involvement in the Ottawa wine scene. I have valued their friendship and commitment to our wine community. Thank you!

I wish you all continued success with your adventures on your wine journey. May you continue to learn and experience all the joy that our wine and food industries provide. Ontario makes excellent wines and the wineries’ commitment to this industry is outstanding. All Canadians are lucky to have our great wine producers. Thank you!

On behalf of the winecurrent team, we wish you much happiness and joy during this festive season. May world peace be our greatest gift.

Yours in wine!
Cheers! Vic
