Based on the orginal Luxardo family recipe created in 1821, this viscous liqueur has been distilled from sour cherries. Subtle notes of warm red fruit, herbs, and a touch of red licorice rise from the glass. On the palate, it’s luscious, warm and sweet, with a fruity note reminiscent of its namesake maraschino, but also of spun sugar. The finish is long, sumptuous, deliciously sweet and subtly savory. Pick this up it as an after-dinner digestif for Easter or, as suggested on the label, drizzle it over a fresh fruit salad. (Susan Desjardins)
