This is a lovely, delicious red wine that delivers very good value. Fragrant, enticing aromas open on the nose with exotic spice and sprigs of savoury herbs interlaced with scads of dark fruit—black plum, black cherry, and black currant. It’s medium-full bodied with good mouthfeel and plenty of tang to balance the ripe fruit flavours that appear on the palate—black plum and juicy black cherry. There’s a solid underpinning of perceptible tannin that’s easily ameliorated by a three-hour aeration/decant, or two more years of careful cellaring. Pour alongside rosemary and grilled rack of lamb.
