Notes of minerality and baking spice aromas mingle with hints of orchard fruit. Deftly balanced and decidedly sexy, white nectarine and racy citrus bathe the palate adorned by creamy texture and firm structure—it was aged 16 months in French oak barrels, less than 18% new. This is a stellar Cab Franc showcasing the fabulous 2010 vintage, decade-old vines and judicious use of seasoned French oak barriques. Toasted herbs, tobacco and dark berry fruit aromas herald a rich, luscious, beautifully balanced river of black currant and dark black cherry coating the palate, infusing the lengthy aftertaste. Lively spice and cherry aromas interlace with hints of cedar and earthy notes on the nose. It spills over the palate with a balanced river of spice-infused red raspberry, currant and wisps of red cherry. It’s medium bodied with good mouth feel and a racy tangy surge of sour cherry on the finish and aftertaste—clean, crisp and lip-smacking good. Pour with lasagna, pizza or pasta in tomato sauce.
