The Aligoté grape is a crossing of pinot noir and gouais blanc with its origins pegged in Burgundy, France. This has a classic green-yellow hue and aromas of citrus, mineral and floral notes. It’s creamy smooth on the palate with flavours of honey, lemon curd and notions of grapefruit pith. An easy-going, exceptional-value sipper, it pours well with crumbled chèvre on olive-oiled arugula, pan-seared fish or white pizza. (Vic Harradine)
