Espanillo ‘Spanillo’ Airén 2010
DO La Mancha, Spain $9.95 11.0% alcohol
Airén was once estimated to be the world’s most planted grape in terms of surface area. Planted almost exclusively in Spain, here’s a wonderful opportunity to sample a very good example—unique aromas and flavours dazzle the senses. Exotic aromas of quince jelly and spice-laden, mature, tropical fruit infuse the palate and lingering aftertaste. It’s fleshy and food friendly pairing well with seafood and pasta in cream sauce.
